Our Conductor.

Mizzette Fuenzalida is a professional cellist and conductor. Her musical training started early in her life when she grew up and spent 13 years in Paris, France. She was awarded a Board of Governors Scholarship and graduated from WVU with a BMEd and an MMEd in 1975. Mizzette is a longtime Chautauquan and played with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and Festival Orchestra for several seasons. She studied with Nellis DeLay, principal cellist NYC Ballet, Chaim Zemach, principal cellist American Symphony and Israel Philharmonic and concert cellist Shirley Treple. Mizzette was principal cellist of the Charleston Symphony and first assistant for Savannah and Columbia Symphonies. She was featured in the first Spoleto Festival in Charleston and also played in the Maryland, Erie and Louisville Symphonies.
Mizzette was the conductor of the Hawthorne Community Orchestra for five years. In 1982 Mizzette co-founded the Naples Philharmonic, was it's first music director and conductor. She was named a Conducting Colleague of the American Symphony Orchestra League and joined a group of 15 international conductors for that year. Always striving to expand her musical knowledge, Mizzette is the music director of the newly formed Rockin' Cello Choir in 2013 and she is the music director/conductor of the Camerata String Ensemble, a select group of string players from the surrounding Central Florida area.
